Step Ladders

We can't find products matching the selection.

Step Ladders are an essential piece of equipment for any workplace. Our range consists of both aluminium and fiberglass step ladders, designed to stand up to rigorous, everyday use and transportation.

Each of our products has something different to offer to make sure you get the best and safest equipment for your job. We offer anything from a small step ladder with 2 steps up to tall 12 step ladders. A lower tread quantity is more suited to shop work and offices, while larger ladders are popular for heavy duty and industrial work with far higher working heights needed.

There are a variety of other features on our ladders to help you make your choice. These features include extras and accessories such as fitted tool trays, ergonomic handles, standing platforms, high handrails and more.

Choose between a wide range of swingback step ladders and platform step ladders. Swingback options offer more treads and platforms offer a useful area to work from. Both are popular builders ladder solutions but are also suitable for any DIY job around the home.

Aluminium or Fibreglass ladders?

There is a big difference between the types of ladder material we have on offer here at Workplace Products. Both Fibreglass and Aluminium step ladders can work well as general workhorses but reach their full potential in different areas.

The majority of our range is made up of aluminium step ladders. Aluminium is a tried and trusted material that consistently performs to industry standards. They are perfect for general work as they are lightweight and easy to operate. They make great step ladders for both domestic and trade use.

Fibreglass step ladders are equally as reliable and growing in popularity. They are a very popular choice with electricians. This is because fiberglass is non-conductive, making them the perfect choice for working around electrical hazards. Of course they are not exclusively for use by electricians. Their non-conductive properties are a handy addition in all industrial environments. Fibreglass is also more lightweight and therefore more easily transported than aluminium but it is often more costly.

Step Ladder Safety Standards

Safety is the top priorirty when working at height. To be sure of a ladder’s quality look out for the safety standards indicated on our step and platform ladders.

EN131 is a safety standard which applies to all portable steps and ladders covering the minimum requirements for safe use. It indicates which steps are suitable for light industrial use with a minimum load capacity of 150kg. The Class 1 standard indicates which products are suitable for heavy duty use and have a maximum load capacity of 175kg. Class 3 determines the ladders which are for use in a domestic environment which have a lower static load capacity of 125kg.

Maximum load capacity is one of the most important factors in these standards, ensuring they can comfortably hold the weight of the worker and items they are holding. Various additions to the ladders such as non-slip treads, high handrails and more also offer the user additional safety and security whilst they are in use.

Changing Safety Standards

The ladder standards listed above will apply until the end of 2018. From January 2019 onward these standards will be replaced with EN131 Professional and EN131 Non-Professional. The old EN-131 and Class 1 standards will be combined into EN-131 Professional which encompasses all ladders appropriate for trade and industrial use. Class 3 becomes EN-131 Non-Professional which will apply to all domestic quality steps.

The changes made to these classifications will ensure that more tests are carried out for additional slip, stability and durability requirements.
